Residents and Bodaboda operators in Kesses Constituency Decry Poor State of Roads

Residents of Kesses Constituency living along Kesses-Lessos road are bemoaning the poor state of the road there and have called on the county government led by Governor Jackson Mandago to speedily intervene.

Almost every business in the area has been paralysed because of the bad state of the road.A Matatu owner who gave his names as William Kogo said the road is so bad that only big motor vehicles ply the road. “Smaller cars including matatus cannot comfortably pass especially on a rainy-day. The County government should spread their developmental tentacles here. I believe the people of Tulwet,Kapserton and Koisagat are part of this society. Let the county government look into our plight,” he said.

Another resident, Mrs. Margaret Kemei said “Look at Lessos road; along this route there are so many institutions which include, Mkombozi Secondary, Tulwet Boys Secondary,Moi Chuiyat School and a milk cooler in Chuiyat ,it is also a major road linking-up other communities. We are not happy, our leaders should help us”, she added that residents are tired of trekking.
“Even though you have a car you cannot go
with it, all other feeder roads are also bad.”

Other residents said the present Leadership including the MCA and their Member of Parliament has not been fair to the people of Tulwet/Chuiyat and its environs.

At the same time Motorcycle bodaboda operators from the entire Constituency have expressed their dissatisfaction with the poor state of road network in the constituency.

They say that the state of poor roads has affected their business further due to the ongoing rainy season in the region.

One of the Bodaboda operators Sammy Letting said the link roads to various destinations in the constituency are currently in a very bad state,which has really caused a great challenge to their work.

The poor roads have even instilled fear in the travelers who fear the consequences of travelling along such roads.

“These roads are the ones we normally use but some points are really impassable especially during this rainy season with water stagnating all over the road and mud causing the road to be very much slippery,” said Letting.

They called upon the area member of parliament James Bett and MCA Hillary Mutai to be responsible enough and consider standard murraming of the roads in the region as one of the long term solution to the tough problems they are facing.

“The type of murram they normally pour on these roads for maintenance are of poor quality which is evident enough during the rainy season as it usually turns into mud and makes transportation hectic they should look for a lasting solution,” added Letting.
