Uasin Gishu: County Assembly Majority Leader defends MCA’s Against bribery claims

[Majority Leader Josphat Lowoi]
Uasin Gishu County Assembly Majority Leader Josphat Lowoi has denied allegations that some Members of County Assembly may have been compromised to influence the outcome in the controversial Censure motions of the three County Officials.

Addressing the press in Eldoret, Lowoi said the insinuations that bribe had been given out by some Members of Parliament over the Censure motions were false and unfounded.

Lowoi refuted the claims observing that the MCA’s were just conducting their roles as a watchdog and an oversight body. He added that the rumour was part of the occupational hazards of the MCAs, and urged the public to take note of the explanations.

This comes a day after CE Finance and Economic Planning Shadrack Sambai survived a censure motion, his Public Service Management Counterpart Margaret Chepkwony was however censured while the motion to censure Public Service Board Chairman Joseph Tanui has been postponed.

In other news, speaking exclusively to Uasin Gishu Bloggers, the mover of the motion Kapsuswa/Kuinet Ward MCA Rebecca Chepchirchir Magut said the claims that she was behind the preparations of a motion to impeach Governor Jackson Mandago were not true. She said the Assembly’s intention was to implore CEC’s to do their work. She said at the moment the Executive was not performing as required as no tangible development was taking place in the county.
