Eight MCA’s have now asked their colleagues planning to pass a vote of no confidence against Finance and Economic planning County Executive Shadrack Kapkiai Sambai to shelve the plan and instead give him a chance to prove himself.
The Eight MCA’s who sought anonymity said the censure should be shelved and give Sambai more time since there was no way he could be judged based on just the three months he had served.
“All other issues are irrelevant and should not be given preference. They stand to paralyse the county’s financial operations and stall development,”said the MCA’s. Instead the MCA’s requested their colleagues to rally behind Sambai.
Addressing the Eldoret Post,at a secret consultative meeting in an Eldoret Hotel today in the morning the MCA’s who requested not to be named said those out to introduce other issues without focusing on County’s development should be treated as enemies of this county.
They also urged Governor Jackson Mandago to take control of his Cabinet and address Constitution and the fight against corruption as a team.
“Uasin Gishu County residents expect the County Government and the County Assembly to read from the same script, and move as one team united under the desire of addressing the urgent needs of this county,” said one of them.
The MCAs further expressed concern that some County leaders were being held captives of the vested interests by outside forces. They vowed to root for the continuation of Shadrack Sambai’s role as County Executive in charge of Finance.
The new developments is a reprieve to Sambai. The change of heart by most MCA’s now means Sambai may survive the Censure motion. Some Members of County Assembly who had earlier resolved to push for his dismissal have now disowned the move.
Yesterday 23 MCA’s voted for the dismissal of CE Public Service Management Margaret Jepchumba against 19 who wanted her to stay put.
