Uasin Gishu County Executives Censure Motion Underway

Uasin Gishu County Assembly Minority Leader and Chairman Public Investments Committee (PIC) Ramadhan Werambo Ali on Tuesday afternoon gave notice of Motion seeking to censure three top County Officials.

The three officials are County Executive in charge of Public Service Management Margaret Chepkwony her Finance and Economic Planning counterpart Shadrack Sambai and the Chairman Public Service Board Joseph Tanui.

Ali said the assembly was concerned with the conduct of the three and tabled that the House censures them with resolve that it has no confidence in them and demanded that they be dismissed with immediate effect.

The County Public Service Board had been accused of mismanaging recruitment in the County with allegations of nepotism and favouritism. The PIC concluded that the CPSB officials had disregarded the provisions of the Public Employment Act while Sambai had violated the Public Accountability and Governance Act and should therefore not continue to hold office.

The PIC chair said the Committee had completed its investigation and fact finding mission and found the three culpable and not fit to hold office.All County Executives and other Senior County Officials had undergone a vetting process to evaluate their perfomance.
