Uasin Gishu County Government has now come under heavy criticism over alleged nepotism and favouritism in employment.
Uasin Gishu county assembly has summoned the County’s Public Service Board officials to explain claims that only people from one community and certain families are being employed in the county.
County Assembly Leader of Minority Ramadhan Werambo Ali has said there have been many complaints from the public over some communities being sidelined in county jobs.
Werambo said it was unfair since there were many communities living in Uasin Gishu County yet only certain people benefitted from the jobs which have already been filled.Werambo said the
Public Service Board which is chaired by Joseph Tanui is being influenced by certain individuals.
Speaker of the county assembly Isaac Terer who distanced himself from the row said thet county administration has an obligation to stick to the stipulated law when hiring staff.
Members of the Senate Devolution Committee, which is chaired by Elgeiyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen,have also come out to warn counties to stop entrenching tribalism and nepotism through employment in counties.
