Uasin County Senator Isaac Melly has asked the county government to apologise over British diplomats’ ejection from an Eldoret hotel. He said Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno had no valid reasons to eject the three British officials led by the Second Secretary in charge of political affairs, Tom Howe from Sirikwa Hotel in Eldoret.
The diplomats were scheduled to meet members of civil societies.“The
Deputy Governor was out of order by kicking out the three senior officials from British High Commission out of Sirikwa Hotel,” Melly said.
Speaking over the weekend in Amagoro where he helped to raise Sh400, 000 for construction of Amagoro SDA Church,Melly said Chemno did not engage the diplomats in any dialogue to establish details of their mission in Eldoret town before kicking them out. “Before flushing out the diplomats from Sirikwa hotel, Chemno should have asked them why they had visited Eldoret without informing county authorities,”he added.
The Senator further criticised the ejection saying such acts of intolerance would shed a bad light not only to the county but the country at large.
