Uasin Gishu Farmers organizations are urging Governor Jackson Mandago to veto the Finance bill that could sharply burden wananchi.

The bill passed by county assembly on Tuesday would make farmers subject to annual taxes going into substantive amounts. The county assembly passed the bill that would see residents dig deeper into their pockets.

The bill brought to the floor of the assemby by majority leader Hon Josphat Lowoi introduces an annual dog certificate of Kshs.500,annual cat certificate of Kshs.200,annual snake certificate of Kshs.1500 and a livestock rearing certificate of Kshs.2000.

The bill cleared by county assembly also imposes a 1per cent agricultural produce cess equating to an average of Kshs.30 per bag of maize.

“It appears that the county government using county assembly is hellbent to burden wananchi more,”said Samwel Rono a large scale farmer from Moiben.

“The bill will drive peasant farmers to poverty,”he added.

There has been no word on whether Governor Mandago will sign the finance bill, but our sources confirm the bill had the blessings of the executive.

  1. What goes around comes around.
We are not silly when we compare our County MCA’s to vampires. How can an upright thinking person do this to the people they claim to jealously guard and represent.
Other County reps are busy looking for investors, launching big cities etc.
and here we see our own elected brothers seriously
feasting on the same foundation that elevated them high?
Be warned!!!! we are watching. and don’t think you are the only guys with brains.

  2. Any single barking almost always occurs from a reason.
Available for all players, pets in “Free Realms” may be dressed up and cared for.
The natural desire to chew will be redirected to the toy.
